The Gombe State Government has approved the full payment of the new national minimum wage for all local government workers in the state.

The announcement was made on Friday, 24 April 2026, by the Head of Civil Service, Prof. Mu’azu Shehu. According to him, the approval affects workers in all 11 local government councils, as well as staff of the Local Education Authority (LEA) and primary healthcare services.

He explained that the new salary structure will begin in May 2026. With this decision, the state government has now cleared the remaining 43% balance, meaning the minimum wage will be fully implemented at 100%.

Prof. Shehu said the move was made possible because of better financial conditions at the local government level, which now allow councils to pay salaries without delays or challenges.

He added that the full payment of the minimum wage is expected to improve workers’ motivation, increase productivity, and strengthen public service delivery, especially at the grassroots level.
