The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics), Federal Polytechnic Ngodo Isuochi, Abia State chapter, has raised serious allegations against the school management, accusing it of mismanaging funds meant for a borehole project.
The union has also warned that it may report the institution to anti-corruption agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) if urgent action is not taken.
In a resolution reached at its congress and delivered in a petition to the Rector, Dr. Paul-Darlington Ibezim Ndubuisi, the union leaders—Chairman Comrade Ador Osondu and Secretary Comrade Onyeneke Ejike—called for a full investigation into the project funds.
They demanded that the management carry out an independent audit of the borehole project and release a detailed financial report to the union.
According to ASUP, failure to provide transparency would force them to escalate the matter to the EFCC, ICPC, and other relevant government bodies.
The union alleged that funds approved for the borehole project may have been diverted into a private account, describing the act as a serious violation of public finance rules and Nigerian law.
ASUP also raised several other concerns affecting staff welfare and institutional administration.
These include alleged failure to enroll staff in the National Housing Fund (NHF) program, non-registration for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and non-remittance of union dues since February 2026.
The union further accused the management of diverting staff welfare packages for 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as neglecting the institution’s health centre, which they said lacks essential drugs and medical supplies.
ASUP gave the management a 21-day ultimatum to address all the issues raised, warning that failure to comply could lead to industrial action.
The union, however, said it remains open to dialogue within the given timeframe, but insisted that concrete steps must be taken to resolve the dispute.
