Ibadan Protest Over Kidnapped Students and Teachers as Calls for Release Intensify [VIDEO]

Members of the National Union of Teachers (National Union of Teachers) in Oyo State staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan over the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

The protest followed the attack on Esiele community on May 15, where armed kidnappers invaded schools and reportedly abducted more than 40 pupils and staff members.

Reports say the kidnappers have since released disturbing videos showing the victims being held and punished in a forest location.

After almost three weeks without news of their safe return, teachers from both primary and secondary schools took to the streets to demand urgent government action.

The protesters gathered at Iwo Road, Ibadan, chanting solidarity songs and calling on authorities to rescue the victims without delay. They repeatedly demanded the safe return of the abducted students and teachers, insisting that insecurity in schools must end.

Their message was clear: “bring back our children, no more bandit attacks.”
