The Presidency has criticised the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the party has not shown any clear policy direction or development plan for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post shared on X on Friday, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said both the NDC and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have not presented a solid manifesto that Nigerians can evaluate.
Onanuga explained that he checked the NDC website twice in recent days to review its plans for the country and compare them with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the attempt to access and download the party’s manifesto from the website was unsuccessful, as the page reportedly returned a “No document found” message.
He said this raised questions about the party’s readiness and policy direction.
Onanuga added that, like the ADC, the NDC appears not to have a defined programme for governance at the moment.
He also stated that he became curious after hearing that politicians such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso were linked with the party after leaving the ADC.
The presidential aide said he expected to see a clear and alternative plan for Nigeria’s development, but found none available on the website.
He noted that even though the site suggested visitors could read the manifesto, the document could not be accessed when clicked.
According to him, this experience suggests that the party still needs to properly define and publish its vision for the country.
