Peter Obi has called on Nigerians, especially young people, to rise against bad leadership and become agents of change ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a youth conference in Abuja organised by Rev. Fr. John Chinenye Oluoma of the Abuja Archdiocese, Obi compared many Nigerian politicians to “Goliath,” accusing them of standing in the way of the country’s progress.
The former presidential candidate said Nigeria urgently needs courageous and honest leaders — which he described as “Davids” — who can challenge corruption and provide real solutions to the country’s growing problems.
According to Obi, many politicians have failed the nation because they focus more on personal enrichment than public service.
He stated that corruption and poor leadership have continued to damage important sectors such as security, education, healthcare, electricity, and job creation.
Obi explained that the conference gave youths an opportunity to openly discuss the major challenges affecting their lives and the future of the country.
He said the questions raised by participants reflected deep concerns about insecurity, unemployment, poor education, and economic hardship in Nigeria.
The former Anambra State governor encouraged young Nigerians to remain focused, realistic, and disciplined in their personal lives while working toward national change.
He also advised youths to avoid fake lifestyles and unnecessary pressure from social media, urging them to live within their means and build their future with honesty and hard work.
Obi insisted that Nigeria can only move forward when citizens, especially the younger generation, decide to confront bad leadership and demand accountability from those in power.
