Phrank Shaibu claims he personally supported Daniel Bwala financially beyond Atiku’s payments
Phrank Shaibu, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said that he personally gave financial support to Daniel Bwala beyond what was officially paid during their time in the opposition campaign.
Shaibu made the claim while reacting to comments made by Bwala, who now serves as a media aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Shaibu, Bwala received payments during his time working with Atiku’s 2023 presidential campaign, but still needed extra money to maintain his lifestyle.
He said some members of the campaign team also helped Bwala financially in addition to his official earnings.
Bwala had served as a spokesperson for Atiku’s campaign during the 2023 general elections, where he was active in promoting the opposition and criticising the ruling party’s presidential ticket.
After the election, he later joined the current administration as one of President Tinubu’s media aides.
Speaking in an interview with journalist Rufai Oseni on Twitter (now X), Shaibu said he has records of Bwala’s earnings during the campaign period.
He alleged that Bwala was well taken care of and even received additional support outside official payments.
Shaibu also insisted that claims suggesting mistreatment were false, saying Bwala was treated fairly while he worked with the campaign team.
He further stated that Bwala’s lifestyle at the time required extra financial help, which some individuals in the team provided.
According to him, disagreements between them later led to online blocking and public criticism, but he maintained that his statements are based on facts.
Shaibu also questioned some of Bwala’s claims about his personal safety and living arrangements during the campaign period, suggesting that they were exaggerated.
