Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that the presidential ambition of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi, is mainly focused on appearing on the ballot in every election cycle, starting from 2027.
Ahmad made the comment on Monday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he suggested that Obi could also repeat the same move in the 2031 presidential election.
According to him, Obi’s political drive seems centered on remaining visible on the presidential ballot, no matter the platform he contests on.
“For Peter Obi, it appears that his main political goal is to ensure his name appears on the presidential ballot, no matter how small the platform is,” Ahmad wrote.
He added that Obi achieved this in the 2023 election and is likely to do the same again in 2027, with a possible final attempt in 2031 if circumstances allow.
In the 2023 general election, Peter Obi contested under the Labour Party and finished in third place behind Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who won the election.
