Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has described the music industry as “very wicked,” saying there is little genuine support among artists despite public claims of unity.
The rapper, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, said he is disappointed by what he sees as hypocrisy in the industry, where artists often fail to support each other’s projects.
He explained that he regularly promotes songs from fellow musicians on his social media pages whenever they release new music, but rarely receives the same support in return.
In a post shared on his X account, Blaqbonez complained that after releasing his track Chanel, many of his colleagues did not repost or acknowledge it, despite him consistently supporting their work.
He mentioned international artists such as Drake, Central Cee, Future and Gunna, saying he had promoted their songs in the past but did not get similar recognition when he released his own hit.
According to him, the lack of support shows double standards within the music industry.
This is not the first time Blaqbonez has spoken out about issues in the entertainment space.
In 2023, he accused some artists of using “streaming farms” to boost their numbers and manipulate music charts.
Although industry figures like music executive Don Jazzy and rapper Odumodublvck dismissed his claims, Blaqbonez insisted that such practices exist and have caused serious harm to the Nigerian music scene.
