The Ekiti State Police Command has denied allegations that the arrest and prosecution of Ayodele Babatola were politically motivated, insisting that the case followed due legal procedures.

The police reaction came after claims circulated on social media accusing the Command of working with the Ekiti State Government to target Babatola over a rape allegation.

Speaking on the matter, police spokesperson SP Abutu Sunday explained that the investigation began after a woman identified as Bukola Oluwaseun reported a rape and assault case at the Oke-Ila Divisional Police Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on May 25, 2026.

According to the police, the complainant alleged that the incident happened a day earlier at KIIBAT Hotel located in the Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti.
