The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially chosen Peter Obi as its flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election.
The announcement was made during the party’s Special National Convention in Abuja after delegates concluded the presidential primary process conducted across different parts of the country.
Obi was formally presented as the party’s candidate amid celebrations by supporters and party members gathered at the convention venue.
Among prominent figures present at the event were NDC National Chairman Seriake Dickson and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who arrived alongside Obi before the declaration.
The development marks a major step in the party’s preparations for the next general election, with the NDC positioning itself as a key player in the 2027 presidential race.
Obi and Kwankwaso recently moved to the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing internal disagreements and ongoing legal disputes within the party as reasons for their exit.
