Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy Communication, has shared his thoughts on the possible outcome of the 2027 presidential election, suggesting that Peter Obi could attract stronger voter support than former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Bwala discussed the political prospects of Atiku as preparations for the next general election gradually gather momentum across the country.
According to him, one of the scenarios he considers possible is that Obi may secure more votes than Atiku in the race for the presidency.
Bwala also raised concerns about Atiku’s standing ahead of the election, noting that the former vice president may face significant challenges in maintaining his political influence compared to previous contests.
He pointed out that during the 2023 presidential election, Atiku benefited from support within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including backing from governors, lawmakers and other influential party figures.
However, Bwala argued that the political environment has changed considerably since then, claiming that the level of support available to Atiku today is not the same as it was during the last election cycle.
He further stated that Atiku has historically struggled to dominate voting patterns in Nigeria’s North-West region, a factor he believes could become important in determining the outcome of the 2027 contest.
Bwala’s remarks come amid increasing political discussions and realignments as major political figures continue to position themselves ahead of the next presidential election.
With more than a year to go before Nigerians return to the polls, analysts expect debates over party strength, regional influence and voter support to intensify as potential candidates seek to build momentum for 2027.
